About
I am interested in Bio/ medical and healthcare ethics. My research concerns the history of medical ethics education, particularly the advent and impact of bioethics on the medicalĀ profession. It also looks at the ways in which medical ethics is currently taught and the response of the students. I am using the perspective of Bauman to understand ethics from a sociological perspective; Foucault to engage with the history of medical ethics and Bourdieu to theories how medical students come to understand medical ethics as part of their 'habitus' thus adopting the professional 'role' doctor.
I hold an undergraduate degree Philosophy and the History and Philosophy of Science and an MA in Healthcare Ethics both from the University of Leeds. I also hold an M.Res. from QUB.
