About
My principal research interests lie in the field of feminism and Irish literature. I am currently completing the first year of my PhD.
My project is a feminist examination of the categorisation and censorship of Irish women’s sexuality through culture and the law, and specifically through issues of prostitution. I am particularly interested in the work of contemporary female writers such as Emma Donoghue, Marie Jones, and Edna O’Brien. I am also researching Irish popular literature, with emphasis on the abuse-survivor memoir.
My research interests lie in Irish Studies, feminist criticism and theory, post-colonialism, cultural criticism and the media.
